Everyone has something circled on their birthday wish list.
It could be a new pair of sneakers, tickets to a Stamps game, or even a puppy.
For Marken Michel? He wants a touchdown.
“I need that present, please,” he said. “That’s the only present I want for my birthday is a touchdown. It should be sweet.”
The fifth-year CFL vet turns 31 on Saturday as the Stamps battle the defending Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes.
In three games played, the Orlando native already has two touchdowns under his belt but a trip to the endzone this weekend would be icing on the birthday cake.

The 2018 Grey Cup champion’s thoughts on his positive production early into this year’s campaign?
It’s simple.
“Just trust,” said Michel. “Like coach has preached all season, even during training camp, it’s Jake (Maier) trusting me to be in the spots I need to be in and he’s going to get the ball to me.”

The Red and White will encounter some familiar faces in La Belle Province this weekend, with former Stampeders Derek Wiggan, Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund, Darnell Sankey, Dionte Ruffin, and Titus Wall slotting into the Alouettes defence.
For Michel and co., preparations for the 4-0 Larks are business as usual.
“We prepare like we’ve been preparing all year,” he explained. “Making sure we’re focusing on the details. It’s going to be a hard-nosed football game, those guys are super tough, and super assignment-sound and we got to go in there and play four quarters.
“I think we’ve definitely been preparing hard this week. We had a great week of practice, so I think we’re ready.”
Kickoff goes at 5 p.m. MT in Percival Molson Stadium, Fans can catch all the action on TSN, RDS, and as well on the CBS Sports Network for our friends south of the border, and on CFL+ for our international devotees.
The road trip continues for Calgary as they head to Manitoba next week for a Friday Night Football matchup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Stamps then return home for Legacy Night on Sunday, July 21, when the organization will be honouring legendary head coach Wally Buono and inducting him into the team’s Wall of Fame.
