It was a strong start to the preseason for the Stampeders who took down the BC Lions 30-6 on Saturday afternoon at McMahon Stadium.
Rookie running back BJ Emmons led the way with two rushing touchdowns and all five Stamps QB’s got playing time in the win.
Jake Maier – seven-for-twelve, 98-yards passing, one touchdown
Matt Shiltz – 11-for-15, 79-yards passing
BJ Emmons – seven rushes, 32-yards, two touchdowns
Marken Michel – three receptions, 48-yards, one touchdown
Damontre Moore – two tackles, one knockdown
The Stamps started with the ball and moved it down the field nicely. Jake Maier found Marken Michel for a 35-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring early. Rene Paredes hit the extra point to make it 7-0 with 9:03 remaining in the first quarter.

Micah Awe made a great breakup on second-down late in the first quarter to get the ball back for the Stampeders.
The first-quarter wrapped up with a 7-0 score.
Maier stayed in for the start of the second-quarter and pushed the ball deep into Lions territory with a couple strong passing plays but the Stamps were unable to punch it in on third-and-goal and turned the ball over on downs.
The Stamps missed a field-goal from 44-yards out on their next drive to keep the score 7-0.
Matt Shiltz came into the game with six-minutes to go in the first-half and led a drive down the field for ending in a 22-yard Paredes field-goal to make it 10-0.
The Stamps got into field-goal range with 36-seconds remaining in the half and Paredes found the uprights from 47-yards out to make the score 13-0
The Lions got on the board with a field-goal of their own with no time left on the clock to make it 13-3 heading into halftime.
Calgary’s first drive of the second half picked up a couple of first downs but was stopped on third-and-short inside Lions territory.
Clarence Hicks picked up the first sack of the day for the Stampeders which forced a Lions punt.
Shiltz scrambled 25-yards to the Lions 20-yardline with just over five-minutes remaining in the third quarter which led to a Stampeders touchdown as BJ Emmons relentlessy drove the ball in from five-yards out to make the score 20-3.

Second-year QB Logan Bonner entered the game at quarterback and led a touchdown drive finished off by Emmons from six-yards out to make it 27-3.
The Lions hit their second field-goal of the game to make it 27-6.
The fifth QB of the game came in as rookie Kyle Vantrease entered the game with just over four-minutes remaining. The drive ended with a 30-yard Campbell fair field-goal to make the score 30-6.
The Stampeders finished the game with a goal-line stand to make the final 30-6.
