2024

(Calgary) Shiltz played 10 games including two starts and completed 34 of 62 passes for 438 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Shiltz also had 14 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown. In a Week 20 start at Hamilton, he completed a pass for a two-point conversion and had seven carries for 43 yards and a touchdown. Shiltz missed seven games with an ankle injury before being reactivated in Week 15. Shiltz saw his first game action in Week 18 and completed four of five passes for 99 yards and a touchdown while rushing two times for 26 yards. He started in Week 19 against Edmonton and completed 18 of 33 passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and one interception while carrying the ball five times for 64 yards.

 

2023

(Hamilton) Shiltz dressed for 11 games for the Tiger-Cats and made three starts, posting a 2-1 record. He connected on 108 of 161 passes (a 67.1 per cent completion rate) for 1,556 yards with seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Shiltz also had 23 carries for 160 yards and one major. In his first start of the season in Week 3 against Montreal, Shiltz threw for 345 yards in a losing effort. He then won his next two starts against Ottawa and at Edmonton before suffering an injury that sidelined him for seven games. Shiltz was back in uniform for the final six games of the regular season and then started the Eastern Semi-Final, completing 13 of 23 passes for 144 yards and carrying the ball four times for 34 yards.

 

2022

(Hamilton) In his first season with the Tiger-Cats, Shiltz played 17 games including three starts. He completed 71.7 per cent of his passes (85 completions on 119 attempts) and accumulated 935 passing yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. Shiltz added 28 rushes for 152 yards and a touchdown and three receptions for 37 yards. He was 2-1 as a starter with victories against Toronto in Week 10 and in the regular-season finale at Ottawa. In Week 11 at Montreal, Shiltz had 303 passing yards and two touchdowns. In the Eastern Semi-Final, he completed 11 of 19 passes for 127 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

 

2021

(Montreal) Shiltz was in uniform for 11 games and made three starts. He completed 49 of 78 passes for 760 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. On the ground, he carried the ball 18 times for 85 yards and one score. Shiltz won back-to-back starts in October. In Week 11 at Ottawa, he threw for 281 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score. In Week 12 against Toronto, he had 212 yards and two majors through the air.

 

2020

(Montreal) Shiltz was under contract with the Alouettes but the season was cancelled because of the global pandemic.

 

2019

(Montreal) Shiltz dressed for all 18 regular-season games for the Alouettes and made one start. He completed 42 of 68 passes for 527 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. He added 119 rushing yards and one touchdown on 15 carries. Shiltz’s start came in Week 16 at BC as he threw for 177 yards including a 97-yard touchdown pass to Eugene Lewis. In Week 9 against Saskatchewan, Shiltz scored his first CFL rushing touchdown. He was also in uniform for the Eastern Semi-Final.

 

2018

(Montreal) Shiltz dressed for 12 games as a backup quarterback and completed 19 of 30 passes for 194 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. He added five carries for 24 yards. Most of Shiltz’s action came in a Week 6 game at Calgary as he replaced injured starter Drew Willy and completed 16 of 25 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.

 

2017

(Montreal) After spending four games on the injury list and five on the Alouettes’ practice roster, Shiltz was activated for a Week 11 game against Ottawa. He saw first action as a quarterback in Week 16 at Calgary when he completed eight of 10 passes for 75 yards. Shiltz threw his first CFL touchdown pass in Week 19 at Saskatchewan. For the season, he dressed for nine games including his first career start in the regular-season finale at Hamilton and completed 35 of 61 passes for 385 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. Shiltz also carried the ball 12 times for 85 yards.

Shiltz was a second-team Pioner Football League all-star in his final season (2015) at Butler as he threw for 2,713 yards and 19 touchdowns. In 29 games over four seasons (2012-15) with the Bulldogs, he completed 324 of 552 passes for 4,037 yards and 29 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. Shiltz also carried the ball 175 times for 857 yards and 13 majors and had four catches for 32 yards.

 

Personal

Shiltz twice was named first-team academic all-Pioneer Football League at Butler, where he majored in accounting. At St. Charles North High School, he set single-season school records for passing yards (1,567) and touchdowns (22). He was the North Stars’ MVP and leadership award winner.
