7 Things – Stamps @ Bombers

1. Us

The Stampeders wrap up the preseason tomorrow tonight as they travel to Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers. Calgary picked up a dominant 30-6 win over the BC Lions in their first preseason outing. Rookie running back B.J. Emmons was the star of the day rushing for two touchdowns in the win.

2. Them

The Bombers dropped their first preseason contest 25-12 to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Zach Collaros’ first live pass won’t come until Week 1, it seems, as he didn’t suit up in the first game and is not on the roster for Winnipeg Friday evening.

3. Dave’s Thoughts

It was a tough week for the Stampeders on the injury front. Receiver Malik Henry is headed to the six-game injured list and will miss the entire season with a knee injury. Head Coach and General Manager Dave Dickenson spoke on the injuries his team is facing and how they replace someone like Henry.

“We’ve got a good group, we’ve had a good camp and we’ve had guys competing,” explained Dickenson. “We have a couple young guys that are hurt that I think are close. I’ve got to figure out if I can get them to the scheme. They have some traits, some speed and some size.”

4. Fast Facts

The Stampeders will look to win both of their preseason games for just the second time since 2016. The last time they did it was two seasons ago when they beat BC 41-6 and Edmonton 37-7 in 2022.

6. Players to Watch

Stamps: Receiver Erik Brooks: Rookie receiver Erik Brooks had an impressive outing in his first taste of CFL game action last Saturday against the Lions. The 24-year-old caught all three targets thrown his way, good for 59-yards receiving. He’ll look to continue his success tomorrow in Winnipeg as he aims to crack the roster.

Blue Bombers: QB’s Terry Wilson/Danner Grainger: Wilson and Grainger will be the only two quarterbacks dressed on Friday with Collaros and Chris Streveler getting the night off, so both will have plenty of opportunity to prove why they should get the third spot on the QB depth chart.

7. Regular Season
