Stamps Remain Perfect At Home

Still perfect at home.

The Calgary Stampeders got back in the win column on Sunday night at McMahon Stadium with a 25-24 victory over the BC Lions. The win pushes them to 3-0 at home to start the season.

The Stamps move to 3-3 while the Lions fall to 5-2.

Reggie Begelton, Jalen Philpot and Clark Barnes all had touchdowns in the win.

After both teams traded punts to start the game the Lions were the first on the board with a penalty-aided drive that ended with a 14-yard touchdown pass to make the score 7-0 for the only points in the first quarter.

The second-quarter started with a 49-yard Peyton Logan punt return to set up a nine-yard touchdown pass from Jake Maier to Reggie Begelton to make the score 7-7.

Logan had another big return with just over three-minutes to go until halftime bringing the ball to the Lions 34-yardline.

Maier found Jalen Philpot, who made an outstanding catch, for a 23-yard touchdown to make the score 14-7 Stampeders with 2:29 remaining in the second-quarter.

The Lions tacked on a field-goal on their next drive making the score 14-10.

Tyler Richardson picked off Vernon Adams Jr. to end the half.

The Stamps added three on their first drive of the second-half making the score 17-10.

BC counted with a touchdown drive to tie the game 17-17 with 6:54 remaining in the third-quarter.

The Stamps were stopped at the one-yardline on third-down and turned the ball over on downs to end the third-quarter.

Calgary regained the lead on a holding call by BC in their own endzone resulting in a safety and making the score 19-17 Stampeders.

The Lions grabbed the lead right back with a short field-goal making it 20-19 with 10:44 remaining.

Maier found Clark Barnes for 40-yards down to the Lions five-yardline and then again on the very next play into the endzone to give the Stampeders a 25-20 lead following a missed two-point conversion attempt.

The Lions kicked through another field-goal with 6:34 remaining to make the score 25-23.

BC was moving the ball again before Kobe Williams came up with a huge interception to give the Stampeders the ball back with just over three-minutes remaining.

The Lions punted the ball through the endzone to make it 25-24 and the Stampeders were able to run out almost all of the rest of the clock and picked up the victory at home.
